Liza M. Capiendo, M.D.
Dr. Capiendo is a board certified doctor and attending physician at Cedars Sinai Medical Center where she is also an instructor in the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. She is a colon and rectal surgeon with Los Angeles Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates.
Dr. Capiendo graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University. She then obtained her medical degree at Loma Linda University. While completing her surgical residency at King / Drew Medical Center Dr. Capiendo received the surgical resident of the year award three times. A specialist in colorectal surgery, Dr. Capiendo completed her colon and rectal fellowship at USC Medical Center in Los Angeles.
In addition to her medical focus, Dr. Capiendo is also involved in research concerning the laparoscopic treatment of colorectal conditions. She is particularly interested in the treatment of women with colon and rectal conditions, namely pelvic floor disorders and fecal incontinence. She applies her special interest in these subjects both as a physician and researcher. She has been published on numerous occasions including in the Journal of Immunopharmacology. She has also presented her work on colon and rectal cancer to the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons Convention, a society of which she is a member.
