Gary H. Hoffman, M.D
Dr. Gary Hoffman is board certified in general surgery and is an attending surgeon at the Division of Colorectal Surgery at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where he is also an instructor. Dr. Hoffman is part of the comprehensive colorectal team at Los Angeles Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates.
Dr. Hoffman is well respected in the colorectal surgical community. Dedicated to optimizing surgical procedures, he is considered a pioneer in the treatment of hemorrhoids. Specifically, Dr. Hoffman conducted research to confirm the benefits of PPH, the procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids. He found that PPH is a superior form of treatment for hemorrhoids over the traditional hemorrhoidectomy and offers his patients these advances in hemorrhoid treatment. He is currently working on furthering the advancement of treatment through improvements to existing surgical techniques.
In addition to offering instruction and care in the operating room, Dr. Hoffman has had numerous articles published in peer-reviewed publications including American Surgeon, Surgical Rounds and Diseases of the Colon and Rectum.
After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of California at Irvine, Dr. Gary Hoffman migrated east to obtain his medical degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He then returned to California to complete his surgical internship at the Los Angeles County, USC Medical Center before heading back South to complete his surgical residency at Louisiana State University with the Charity Hospital of New Orleans Medical Center.
